Regulation is the act of adjusting the mechanical motion of the keys and inner action to play evenly across the entire keyboard. Keys are set to very precise heights, depressed depths, and motion resistance to provide uniform motion of the key to the action inside the piano.
Each note has a number of fine adjustment points on the action that provides feedback to the keys and when set correctly allows the piano to perform to its fullest.
